(Snip. . .) She's got it set to go to/come from either her credit card OR
her

checking account (her choice at the time of the transaction)

That is not quite the way it works. If you have a balance in your PayPal
account the funds will be transferred from that account first. You have no
choice. If there are insufficient funds left in the PayPal account then the
additional amount needed will be transferred from your Bank account. If you
want to use a credit card instead of a Bank transfer, you must manually wade
through tedious menus to get to a set of confusing choices. If you actually
select the correct choice you will be able to use your credit card. They
make it very difficult to use your credit card. If you have NO funds in your
PayPal account then the above scenario is the same except no PayPal balance
is used because there is none.

PayPal changed the user license significantly about 9 months ago. Read it -
it will scare you!

PayPal is drastically trying to discourage the use of YOUR credit card!
(1st) they have their own credit card now and they are trying to kill off
competition, (2nd) they make even more money off of their credit card. (3rd)
complaint mitigation is more problematic (read expensive) for them when it
is your company (4th) they LOOSE CONTROL of the cash flow.

If you link Paypal to your credit card READ the User License. It will scare
you! Set up a very small bank account in a credit union and linked PayPal to
that. Your mileage may vary.
