I can vouch for that. Bill stopped by the house with the car on the trailer
the day he picked it up. He still lived in Dallas then, and we visited more
often. We studied the car for several hours as I crawled around on the
trailer "inspecting" his new toy, and he explained all that he was going to do.
I remember the school bus pulled up out front to drop off my daughter and
some boy yelled out: "Hey, look - - it's one of those rocket cars!" Shoot, a
rocket car would have been easy compared to what Bill undertook.
I'm sure that he would have had less work had he started from scratch, but he
did the greatest mod-job I've ever seen. I visited his garage in Dallas
several times to check on his project, and challenge after challenge, he'd come
up with solution after solution. My guess is, Bill learned as much doing that
mod as he would have had he built four or five cars from scratch.
My hat's off to Bill for getting it to El Mirage and making the speed he did.
Imagine what he'll be able to do with more than half a dozen miles of smooth
salt!!!
