Amazing. A lot of the same people (so I don't point any fingers) that
complain about $2.50 gal gasoline will pay over $13.00 gal for tap water in
plastic bottles then claim the "OIL" companys are ripping them off. I agree
that the profits are huge but a lot of that profit is due to the price
increase of crude oil which is set by OPEC not the oil companys. If it costs
Exxon or whoever $30.00 a barrel to get it out of the ground and they sell
it for $70.00 on the open market, that is not their fault, they didn't set
the price. If anyone wants to do something, STOP DRIVING, keep the Arabs
from making $68.00 a barrel profit (that is excessive). I'll bet the
millions of stock holders that really own the oil companys aren't
complaining about the increases in their portfolios.
I honesty didn't realize that the purpose of any company in business was to
sell their product at the very least they could sell it for.
I'm really glad to know that the person who owns an all original Goat that
they bought new in 64 for $4500 will sell it to me for $4,950, a 10%
increase over what they gave for it, any more would be ripping me off.
Obviously a fair profit.
Gas is about the same price increase ratio from 68 to present as a new
Mustang. I guess that Detroit is ripping us off also. Ohhh, they are. I
would think when they are making a $10,000 profit on a $40,000 SUV that
should also be considered price gouging but people are still buying them
without complaining too much because the mfgs. are in trouble.
My stock brokers computer automatically sents me a statement twice a year
for a nominal $50.00 fee and that's not gouging?
We get "ripped off" repeatedly daily but IMHO gasoline isn't one of them
compared to others.
