Mayf;

I think you're right-- Chassis Engineering did make it to 300mph first
but that record didn't last long.

The JCB people did a great job of working the bugs out of a brand new
car and making it go fast. I found them to be a very friendly group who
were well aware of how different and how difficult it was to run on the
Salt. They also seemed to enjoy the Bonneville experience and get to see
a new, unique venue.

I think they were a bit apprehensive at first about the reception they
might receive from the salt racers since they were not an amateur team
but these fears evaporated when they actually met fellow racers at
Bonneville. JCB was quite willing to admit that they had a lot to learn
about this type of racing and they were impressed by some of the clever
ideas that had been incorporated into other LSR cars there.

It was nice of Andy Green, his girlfriend Sophy, and Colin Bond, the
Fastrac (the big push vehicle) driver to show up at the Salt Talks.

My congratulations to the JCB Dieselmax team for the new diesel record.

Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ

Yeah, the did set a AA/DS record at 317 and change...but that little old

C/DS with the Cummins in it beat them to the 300 mph record. As I recall

they set the first record over 300 with a 306 or so? Someone chime in
and make sure this is correct. The JCB folk litterally messed around all

week trying to get it to run right...then finally it did. Was way cool
to watch..
