Otto,

Boy, do you ever know how to win friends and influence people. This list has
always been a pretty fun place to read about others' struggles to excel at
Bonneville and to reap the advice and knowledge of those that know more. The
first year I was building for Bonneville I didn't know about the list (and
yes, I am net savvy); all I had was a rule book and lots of questions. Of
all the people I called whose numbers were in the book, only one actually
took the time to talk to me (thanks, Dan) and if I had the list, I would
have bee that much further along, that much faster. Now you've gone and
thrown a turd in the punchbowl and it is very disheartening. This was a
place where a few guys could get together and have a few metaphorical beers
and shoot the breeze. Now you want to drag a bunch of sue-happy notions in
here and cause a stink. Why? Are you really that thin-skinned or did you
just need some excitement on a slow Saturday?

I have looked at all the pictures of your online cars and have seen your
actual cars and I have been very impressed with your craftsmanship. I have
read all of Dave's posts and spoken to him often and am more than a little
impressed with his knowledge and accomplishments at Bonneville and
elsewhere. For you to threaten a lawsuit over somebody's statement like that
is exactly what is wrong with this country, and frankly, you should be
ashamed. BTW, if you can prove any of Dave's statements affected your
business in any way, I'll be very surprised, otherwise you will end up
eating a lot of expense for what reason? Either challenge him to a race or
see who can piss higher up the wall, but take your pack of lawyers and go
home. In fact, if your attorney really advised you to go forward, he must
have a payment coming due on his BMW or his snotty little kid must need
braces.

One last question. I've been around many, many shops and I have actually
seen what goes on there. Can you honestly tell me that sitting around the
shop with a few customers and/or friends not one person ever turned to you
and said, "Otto, you're full of crap"? Did you sue him too? I guess that
really makes for lots of repeat business, huh?

And I thought I was in 'nuts_racing'...
