I've played with these a bunch along with a temp gun.... seems they open 
really slow... like around 30 seconds or so....

Stick it in a coffee can  on top of your bench vise... and stick a propane 
torch under it... works like stink...

I'd recommend everyone running a thermostat do the same thing just to check 
it's function.  It's a common test for me... as I like them....
