Two likely causes for your problem......
1. I assume that you have checked the timing, if it is way out then the
combustion may be occuring when the inlet valve is open (causing the flames out
the carb). I sure hope this is the problem cos the alternative ain't so easy
to
fix.....
2. If air/fuel is being blown OUT of the carbs it suggests that the inlet
valve
is open when the piston is on its up stroke, rather than on the way down. It
may be worth removing the rocker cover and checking that the valves are opening
in a sensible sequence, also after turning over the engine is there a smell of
petrol out of the exhaust. If not it suggests that the timing chain has slipped
- which is bad news!
If the chain has slipped look on the bright side - now would be a great time to
fit a fast road cam for a bit more power.
