You'll find a real good article about Toyota conversion by Chuck Simmers on
the MG tech page:
The easiest is to fit any 66-74 Sprite/Midget A-series engine (1098, or
1275cc). The later cars used a Triumph 1500, which is a difficult conversion,
and can't be tuned as well as the 1275.
