Allan:

Have you called Guinness yet?  If not, do so immediately. This is the only
instance of a 4-cyl car running on one cyl I have *ever* heard of.  You
should by all means take full-colour video and get a corroborating witness
there and, if possible, a notary public to take down your statements.  MIT or
Cal-Tech might wish to purchase this machine for research purposes, as well
... you may want to keep that in mind before you tinker with it any further.

On a more serious note, this is just mechanically not possible.  It's very
difficult to tell from your description exactly what's going on, but if
you've replaced the head gasket, it could be a whole series of things. Take a
deep breath, start from the top, and try again.  What is it exactly that your
car is doing?
