It really depends on what you're looking for. My TWM manifold and
sidedraft 45 DCOE provides MUCH better throttle response than my SUs ever
did. The SUs were fine, but the car didn't have the neck snapping, (Yes,
that's what I said :) acceleration that it does now. Yes, it's an
expensive conversion (~$750, with dyno tuning). Yes, the milage is
somewhat worse (although not as much as mentioned; I suspect
less-than-optimal tuning). Yes, it's not original MG (although this was a
mod the factory racing manual recommends). Webers are a fine addition to
any MG looking for better throttle response.
No one should feel any need to "defend" their choice...but anyone that
wants to street race their SUs against my Webers, I'm ready!
