Ross,

I'm having a problem with the 73B. Idles fine and runs great at upper RPMs
(above 2500). But when I give it gas below 2000-2500 RPM, it stumbles
(e.g., when I'm accelerating from a stop).

The valves gaps and the spark plug gaps are correct.

At idle (around 1200 rpm), the balance meter (Unisyn) shows the air flow to
both carbs to be equal. However, I looked at the carbs (SU HIFs) and
noticed that the pistons don't open up at the same rate. The Carb for
cylinders 3 & 4 opens its piston before the other Carb.

The Chiltons manual discusses carb adjustment via the "Throttle
interconnection clamping levers". Says if the balance is off by more than
1/2" at above idle RPMs to adjust the slower carb.

Am I looking in the right area? If so, is there anything to what out when
making the adjustment. (Haven't messed with SU carbs, so want to make sure
before diving into it -- although they look fairly simple.)

Or, should I look at something else first.

Thanks in advance,

Nick
