thrashing the poor old beast on the race-track, but I reckon many newer cars
would have given up totally under the same treatment.

My experience is that breakdowns tend to cluster. Oh, sure, you'll have
many
months, even years, of trouble-free motoring. But when the bad things begin
to happen, they happen in bunches. I hope you can continue to dodge this
