Bought my car in England, way back in 1969.  Also picked up one of these
things from University Motors (where John Twist learned his trade...). 
They work.  Simply a blocking sleeve over the oil cooler.  You know it
works when you forget to take it off and the temps warm up - and your
oil pressure is 10-20 lbs less than normal when hot.  

I used this thing in Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska - even in Northern
Virginia in the coldest weather.
