Ah, random ignition problems. 

Just to pass on some received wisdom, whn my EI died on me last week (due to
a half-assed installtion by PO) i had the option of repacling the pertoronix
iginition in the distributor itself, or putting an XR-700 (actually, the car
had a dead XR-700 still partially wired in place).

the pertronix ignitor has particular advantages 1) it's cheaper. 2) the www
mg club raves about it (actually it was the only one they reccomended last
time i looked) 3) according to Branden the mechnix they are by far the most
reliable make of EI for an MG. 

ED, Lawrie, what's your opinion?
