Actually, only the very early Mobil 1 synthetic oil had a seal problem. They
have since added a seal conditioner to synthetic oil. I don't think the use
of synthetic oil is causing a leak, but maybe since synthetic oil isn't as
affected by cold temps, your car may leak a bit more in cold weather.
I use synthetic oil in both of my cars. Slightly better power and no ill
effects.
