Ooops, when I said I unplugged the regulator to rule
this part out, I should have said I unplugged the
stabilizer.  As this is what I unplugged on the
firewall behind the Tach.  But I still blew the green
fuse after unplugging the stabilizer.

I believe it would be tough to disconnect the
"regulator" as this is built into my GM alternator :-)
