Barrie, I think you are being a bit harsh (and jumping a bit too
quick).  From the official (corporate) website, the Z cars start under
10K pounds on the road (so taxes and licensing is included in the
price).  Every review I have read thusfar from people driving these
cars confirm that they live up to the sporting reputation MG has
earned.  These cars appear to be very much "MG" automobiles.
(Note: The only reviews I have seen are on pro-MG biased websites, so
YMMV)

MG-Rover can't afford to live on what they have now.  They have to
make a splash, so they can get some marketshare.  These cars are
making that splash.  Personally, I want an F.  I have wanted an F
since 1995.

In short, don't knock the cars yet.  Drive one first.  Wait for it to
at least be available before you condemn the company.  From what I
have seen, the current management is doing grant work (but then, in
comparison to BWM, how could they look bad).
