The saga continues..Two weeks and counting!
Previously: 79B wasn't starting after just cutting out on the road and
dying an immediate death. New coil, new ignition switch (It would start
sometimes if I held the key on but died when released), checked distributor
resistor and it has current flowing through it. It started today after I
banged on the ignition relay and ran fine, but it has done this before then
just died and have to be towed home. I didn't run it far from home this
time but noticed that fuel and temperature gauges work sometimes and then
fail other times.
Question:
Would the ignition relay cause these problems; can it work sometimes and
not others, or does it usually just die? Could a short in a wire
controlling the fuel and temp gauges also cause the car to die suddenly?
Thanks,
Monte 79B
