Dan,
  Insulate where you can. Install rubber seals at the bottom of the
doors. 
  If possible, drive the car around and bring it with its warm, 400 lb
engine, back into the garage to give up its heat to the airspace.
  I use a combination of kero-sun heater (smells), propane infra-red(
heats only what the rays touch) and a propane salamander (noisy, makes a
lot of heat, probably makes a lot of CO as well). 
  Vaseline on your hands inside nitrile gloves helps keep hands warmer.
It will dissolve latex gloves. 
  Bring your tools (wrenches especially) into the house a day before you
will be needing them in the garage. Let them warm to room temp.
