With respect to stripping paint using a chemical paint stripper I have found a
good tip to pass on. A handful of wood shavings (not sawdust but big curly
shavings from a power planer or jointer) makes a good 'tool' for removing the
paint-laden paint stripper. The wood has enough strength to be slightly
abrasive, it absorbs some of the chemical and a pile of these shavings is a lot
easier to cleanup then a pile of just the stripper/paint. If you don't have a
brother in the wood working business (or your own jointer/planer shavings) then
you might try a woodworking shop.
