Quote "90% of SU problems are due to Lucas electrics" unquote.

Timing? Dwell? A large gap/low dwell will cause a missfire at higher revs
as there is insufficient time for the coil to fully flux and give a decent
spark when the points open. Condenser? By pulling the king-lead out of the
coil (out of the dist cap is shocking) you should be able to get a spark of
at least 1/2", blue, and with a sharp crack. A failed condenser results in
a short, fat, yellow spark and retarded timing.

The pump should be able to deliver at 1pt in 30 secs, directed into a
bottle. If pulling the choke clears it hen it could be weak mixture but I
have known this mask ignition problems.
