I came here from a slightly different direction: I was always partial to
MGs and English cars in general. My first car was a 1949 MG TC, back in
1956. I worked on it all the time, but didn't rod it, beyond a really good
tune-up. When I got married the first time, we drove Chevy Bel Aires and
Studebaker Champions and the like, until I started racing in an MGA at
Mosport in Canada in 1964 and then in a Mini from 1965 through 1968. As a
result of the Canada "Improved Production" rules, both of these cars were
hotrods (must retain the original crankcase and transmission case and not
bore beyond the capacity class, period). Now, I drive a Morris Cooper S
that is highly modified (and powerful) and a Victor TF-1. I do all work on
my cars myself. I'm still definitely about 14 at chronological age 65.
Since I quit getting married I have been getting younger.
