Possible one of the diodes in the altenator has gone bad, or a brush does 
not make good contact / warn. I had a bad diode pack last year with the same 
prewarning.

RE 2:
Ignition switch electrical part near key inspection:
Try to find any lose / poor contacts - those bullet connectors and fittings 
are always suspect.
Do not know about reliability of the keyswitch itself - Kelvin?
