Matthew, all of the suggestions you received are certainly helpful ones, but
what's missing is probably the most important and your solution.

Do you belong to a car club?  If not, you should.  Around here (Connecticut), it
wouldn't take much to get helpful friends to work with you to get this done.
Sometimes it's hard for some to ask, but I have been on both sides of this and
it has always worked out.

And even if you joined a club today in hopes of getting immediate assistance, it
won't matter as long as you stay long enough to give back.

It might cost you some pizza and/or beers.
