You need to check the electrical connections first, right on the 12v and =
earth terminals making sure there is 12v with the ignition on.  If not =
then that is the cause not the pump.

If you see 12v then quite possibly the points have developed a spike and =
pit, and stuck together.  When this happens there is a single click when =
you turn on the ignition, and another when you turn it off.  Relatively =
easy to clean them up and check the adjustment, which may involve =
removing the pump chamber from the solenoid body. =20

Don't dismantle any further, and don't replace the diaphragm if it =
doesn't need it, replacement parts are often not as good as the =
originals and sometimes don't even fit properly.  If the diaphragm were =
faulty the pump would be leaking fuel.
