     Hi everybody,

I'm considering a change of rear axle ratio for my '54 Plus Four. It
currently has a 3.73 to 1 ratio. (Ring has 41 teeth, pinion has 11
teeth.) The pinion gear has some rust pitting on it which, I'm told,
will make the rear end a little noisy -- tho it will probably last for
     years.

The axle is completely apart, and since 3.73 ring & pinion sets are no
longer available from Newman Altman, and 3.54 ratios and 3.31 ratios
*are* available, maybe I should put in a nice new 3.54 set. (Thanks
for your source list John Blair).

The 3.54 would give less acceleration, but longer legged cruising. My
Plus 4 has a TR2 engine, but will be a 2.2 instead of 2 litre, so that
would compensate with a little more acceleration.

Any experiences with higher ratios (i.e. lower numerical ratio) in
Plus Fours? What ratios did later Plus Fours use?
