Funny you should mention,
I also have experienced a grinding noise, only when the clutch is released.
When I completed my recent rebuild I noticed that the pilot bushing was
siezed in the end of the crankshaft and would not allow the xmission to be
un released when it was assembled. The engine would even not turn over.
In pulled the motor and found that the bushing caused the input shaft to
bind. This was fixed by driving the bushing in about .125".
After about 500 miles I noticed the dreaded "grinding noise". I haven't
taken it apart to verify that it is in fact the pilot bushing but it is a
good bet that it is the culprit.
I won't know till this winter because I don't intend to do anything until
then.. I'll let you know
DC.
