Whoops, I forgot to mention the most useful of all the Morgan books! Of
course mine's not on the bookshelf either, it's on top of my toolbox. This
is the first place I turn for practical advice on my Morgan. Anyone who has
a Morgan needs this book. E-mail Fred Sisson <fps3@aol.com> for details and
buy a copy of The Morgan Driver's Bedside Reader.

Another good source for tips is the California Club's compendium of tech
articles over the past thirty years or so, all indexed and rather useful. I
don't have the address handy. Anybody have the details on this one?

I drove my Plus 4 some distance down I95 tonight at about 70-75mph for the
first time in five years. I'd forgotten to bring my earplugs and now recall
how fatiguing the wind buffeting and noise can be at highway speeds. My
eyelids were pretty gritty when I got home. Anybody have any suggestions
for eye protection at night? Safety glasses?

This same grit is what will pass through your engine in gobs if you don't
have air filters. Nylons or panty hose or window screens don't cut it. Way
too restrictive on airflow. Good air filters like K&N's have an enormous
surface area to draw through relative to the area across the mouth of the
carbs, so that there's minimal restriction on the airflow. When I fitted
K&N's onto my (short) Carbs & short manifold, they came with "Stub Stacks",
which are very short velocity stacks that help funnel the air more
efficiently into the carbs at high volume & speed. They work great. I
wholeheartedly recommend them. BTW, this idea for protecting my engine came
straight out of Fred Sisson's earliest Morgan book!
