Another thought. Do you have the proper flaring tools. Old brit cars used
a
"bubble" flair. US cars use a "double" flare. Confuse them at your peril.
Not many people are going to have the bubble flaring tools but you can buy
them from the likes of Snap Off ~ opps ~ Snap On.
