In my town it is almost impossible to legally own a "ole-truck". There
is a small group of pinched face old fa*ts that dislike any older
vehicle. Unfortunantly they are in positions of power- mayor, city
councilwoman, rich behind the scenes power broker, etc.

Citizens can go to council meetings, protest, write letters to the
paper, and nothing matters, these people get what they want.

First they made it illegal to own an inoperable, unregistered vehicle.
That wasn't enough, there were still old cars and trucks around.

Then they made it illegal to own an inoperable registered vehicle. You
might have tags and insurance, but if it wouldn't start and drive it was
illegal. That still wasn't enough to get rid of the old stuff.

Then they gave it a time limit. 72 hours. If your vehicle was visibly
inoperable for 72 hours, you faced a $200.00 a day fine. How many major
repairs can be done in 72 hours? It can take longer than that just to
get parts, and forget it if any thing had to go to a machine shop. They
cited me for changing my king pins, because the shop had them for too
long. But that wasn't enough, there were STILL some people with these
da*mmed old vehicles.

So here is the latest: If a vehicle is not MOVED for 72 hours it can be
DECLARED inoperable. Then they can force you to have it removed or a
$200.00 a day fine. REMOVED from the city, not just moved around. The
law specifically says it can't just be moved within the city.

Now I have to be sure I move Both my old trucks at least every two days,
or I could be forced to get rid of them. I live one block from city
hall, I am defenantly on their list to watch.

Now I check my e-mail and find the same sort of cr*p going on here.
Sub-lists so the TF guys don't have to listen to those Da*mmed old Art
Deco guys, and the rodders don't have hear about stockers.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! Everyone here is so concerned
that they don't have to hear about anything besides their own special
interests that they are willing to destroy the group. Don't you realise
that 90% of what applies to an Art Deco truck applies to a TF as well,
most of the difference is Sheet metal!

Miq, I propose a compromise insted of nixing "Eb*y" could you nix the
phrase "Interesting item on eB*y"? That would eliminate the forward
posts from eB*y which are what I belive are really the bone of
contention here, otherwise any thing that mentions eb*y will be bounced.
Such as if I were to write about my 1100 mile road trip driving my '52
GMC open cab fire truck back from Pennsylvania through tropical storm
Dennis, and I say that I bought it on an eb*y auction, Boom no story.

We are all ready up to our necks in petty ass rules in the outside
world, lets not do that in here.

Back when I had time to search eb*y (and it takes 2 hours to properly
search for AD truck parts) I would put together about one post a week of
unusual things I thought listmembers might be interested in, but I
wouldn't forward each auction because it would clog up the list. It
wasn't hard to do and it helped listmembers find needed parts, and thats
what we are really here for is to help each other.
