It's probably a 2 ton, series 6000.  See if it has a Hydrovac booster  bolted 
to frame under right cab side.  that should give you good braking.  You 
should hit 50 mph, but it takes a while to get up to speed with a load.  
Engine might be the early 235.  Get stamped number from pad behind 
distributor for verification.
