Got to find those friends of old iron, man. I mean, tie rods! What a
load of BS. These old rigs can go for decades with slop in the
suspension. My 51 has needed tie rods for 10 years.
Regarding your tie rods. I don't know about the new vs modern. But, I
do know that for the money and duration, I would go with new as
opposed to the fix kit. They will probably last your lifetime unless you
drive your truck constantly. If your worried about maintaining the
"original equipment" , then I would go with old style. If you would
rather have performance enhanced, probably the new style is better
for one reason or another.
BTW, fellas, I would never advocate driving without emergence
brakes. But, my truck has been sitting for awhile and I just got her
back in the saddle. So, for the few miles I will drive her until I fix the E-
brake, I am not worried. I am not speeding around. And I know blue
dots are illegal but this is a ridiculous law. Like swithcblades being
illegal - like a can't hurt you with a pen.
