Seems to me like a lot of work for little gain.
It will only drop your RPM by 7% at any given
road speed. I don't know what the diameter of
your rear tires are, but assuming 32" your RPM
at 60 MPH would be 2590 with the 4.11 rear end
and 2413 with the 3.83. Little gain when you
look at all the work of changing from an enclosed
driveshaft to an open one, matching up parking
brake hardware, etc. Why not hold out for a 3.08
rear gear which would drop the RPM by 25% to 1940
at 60 MPH using the guesstimated 32" tall tires?

Hi Oletruckers.

I got a rear end from a '65 1/2 ton truck that not only its the same width
(55 1/2), but it uses the 6 bolt pattern, the gears are still a little high
3.83:1, but better that 4.11:1 which is the original ratio on my '53. I will
be installing this upgrade in the next two weeks.

Thanks,

Antonio

The only problem with the Dodge 6 lug pattern is they are not the same size
circle, In other words it won't work. Sometimes I can't say what I want too
say. Thanks
