Darrel, the box is held on by large bolts, six or maybe eight on bigger
ones that go thru the wood and thru the crossmembers under the wood. The
wood sits on thsese x-members. I'm thinking there are four members and on=
e
just ahead of axle/frame bump-up doesn't bolt to frame and just clears th=
e
hump until you load it. There are pads or sometimes blocks of wood and pa=
ds
used on diff years to use under the x-members to set box up off frame and
allow to clear the hump for axle. Rear bolts just have a pad between last
member (also bottom of box at gate) and the frame. They make bolt kits fo=
r
this with pads, bolts, blocks, etc. from most vendors. Also, there is a
small booklet with info and explanation of how years were mounted and wha=
t
to do with box to mount and rebuild. Most vendors have for about $4 or so=

reccommend you get one. There is a fella on web who has a tech article wi=
th
info about same too, can't remember where. Maybe someone at www.stovebolt
com forums will know it. Might be on www.chevytrucks.com site? Good Luck!=

I began putting the box on my '47 - 3100 and have a question. What holds
down=0D
the front of the box to the frame? It looks like the front sheet metal of
the=0D
box fits on the front rail of the first crossmember. While the crossmembe=
r
is=0D
bolted through the frame, the box just sits on the front edge of the=0D
crossmember. Is this correct. I know once the fenders and running boards =
are=0D
added, they will tie in to the front of the box, but it seemed like there=
=0D
should be some other point of attachment to the frame.=0D
