I understand the parking switch idea, I guess I'm just having trouble
understanding why its not doing its job.

It seems to run fine before I attach the linkage.  I just now removed the
wipers, connected the linkages, and tired it out  And it seems to work fine
with the wipers off.

Its dark and cold out there, so I don't plan to go any further tonight, but
I guess my next step is to try to understand how to adjust the thing so
switch I cann't see at all will function at the right time.

I make my living telling computers how to dance, you'd think I could at
least understand technology that is older than I am...

Thank you everyone who has responded.  I'll continue to ask questions and
report what's happening until I'm happy with the results.
