Actually the small charge that I get from hosting a few sites for folks,
goes toward all the fees that I have to pay for the domain. The yearly fee
I charge per account would barely cover one months cost, and having 6
accounts this helps with the fees but the site doesn't even come close to
breaking even. I don't what paid ads scattered here and there so i've never
tried to get any. I offer free classified--not many of those around
anymore. I consider this another hobby and what hobby doesn't
cost..... Mark, is the who keeps all the actual hardware running
smoothly with way more expenses. I've contributed to him on a few occasions
with his fund drives. Miq does a hell-u-va job as moderator/administrator
of the list , for without him --- where would we be--My hats off to ya
sir...
A little background-the chevytrucks.org domain was initially developed
by -here's one for the ole timers of the list--Ted Timmons, as a common
place to keep all the informations gathered from the mailing list in a more
public area. Ted got highly involved with the MP3 scene and moved on so,
since I have had my web site hosted by him and ran the list members
page--which at the time got pretty involved - its at
http://www.chevytrucks.org/wayne/member.html very outdated and needs to
get restarted, problem I ran into was folks come and go and don't have a
way to make sure its only current members
--I'll make this another upcoming project after the t-shirts. Soooo Ted
offered to sale the domain to me since I had more more interest in it-I
purchased it and have been very happy since. Improved it some--added more
features and started the free classifieds for just pre 41-59 trucks only.
Parts wanted and for sale---so anyone got any items in either
category--come on over and put yours in. Its all FREE and will broaden the
audience.
If any extra funds come from the t-shirts. I'll let all know and we'll
go from there. The keg will be at my house ---LOL I'm gonna try to
make things as even as possible, but have to make sure I cover all the
associated expenses...
