I had my truck for about 5 years before i found out there was supposed to be 
a brace. the po had put hood pins where the front mounts for the braces 
were. i thought it was a chevy option cause any gmc's i had found in the 
wreckers didn't have any either.

It might be my imagination, but it sure looks like to me that there's
another sheet of steel worked in there under that hood.  It looks nice
and heavy.
