I recently tried to help a friend put a Vintage Air "Shure Fit" unit on his
truck. Notice I said "tried". It "shurely fit" something but it wasn't that
truck that the "instruction manual" said it was supposed to fit. Their tech
help was a fiasco too. We finally gave up and sent the whole mess back. He
bought a Old Air unit and it bolted right up. I would definitely stay away
from Vintage Air.

Buyer Beware!

Last month, I purchased Vintage Air's A/C - Heat - Defrost unit for my 1949
Chevy Pickup. I also bought the ProLine brackets and pulleys for a 350 V8.
Everything arrived and looked great.

We proceeded to tear down my old setup with the ugly brackets and found
that we had would need to switch to a different water pump. No problem.
Bought one at the FLAPS and we're ready again.

Found out that I'd need to grind a little off my brand new Weind manifold
to get the brackets to fit right. Okay.

Put the polished aluminum pulleys on the W/P and the crankshaft. Put the
compressor on. Put the alternator on. NOTHING LINES UP! To make this
setup work right, I'd have to grind 1/4" off the alternator bracket and set
the compressor bracket forward 5/8". So, we scratch our heads a bit and
wonder if Vintage Air has different offsets for these brackets.

We call Vintage Air's tech support line today and after 10 minutes or so, I
talk to Robert. After I explain the problem, he says there's nothing they
can do. We'll have to grind on these brand new brackets and provide our
own spacers to make this work. I ask him if it's something about our
particular setup and he apologetically said that there wasn't. I thanked
him and that was the end of the conversation.

I'm at a loss as to what this bracket/pully combo is supposed to work
with...

Sign me frustrated,
