I hate writing this email but the worst happened over the weekend. We went on
our first camping trip, fully rigged. The 383 stroker only had 700 miles on it
and ran perfect around town for three months before the trip. About 200 miles
out the engine overheated and quickly broke down. After a truck stop mechanic
lifted the headers you see a broken piston from heat. After renting two U
Hauls and towing everything home I called the engine shop yesterday. They of
course couldn't believe it but after many questions and parts examining over
the phone the engine had "NO THERMOSTAT!" Apparently they ship their "turn
key" engines without one. No communication on this missing item, other than
timing, was mentioned. They said they would replace the engine but I have to
pay for shipping both ways. After all's said and done I'm going to be out
$1,000 not to mention the time and bother. Here's a link to the mess if anyone
is interested. http://www.itswhatsnext.com/Proformance
The droplets of water you see are tears.
