Paul,

Things may be different in the USA to UK but generally a car must be totally
original to fetch top money.  If you are going to modify it a bit you might as
well modify it a lot.  The 948 engine can be highly tuned and still not be
equal to a warmed over 1275 (1380, 1430,etc).  If you really want to keep the
small engine it will need more than inch a quarter carbs to make it go.
However, because the power is so small even a small increase has a big effect
because of the law of percentages and the way you are improving the power to
weight ratio.

If you meant in your e-mail can you use the 1275 head on the 948, you can but
the work involved means it's not worth the hassle.

Only you can decide but given that you have a 1275 square body car why not
keep that for performance and the Bugeye for fun (and slow driving).  Of
course the middle road is to only slightly modify the Bugeye with the 948
engine.  Enough options for you!
