The RC-40 is actually 'straight through' too. I noticed this when I was putting 
the system together. But I think there is a lot more to it than that. The RC-40 
system is 'tuned' specifically for the a-series engine, and the two cans are 
placed a specific distance apart so to enhance 'scavenging' of exhaust gasses, 
and to cancel out noise. I think Vizards testing showed that the RC-40 flowed 
as 
good, if not better than an 'open' pipe.
