Something to keep in mind - everytime you change
diameters, there is an increase in pressure drop
(backpressure).  While the increase in duct diameter
reduces pressure drop, abrupt diameter changes will
negate the benefit.  If the exhaust velocity is sonic,
an abrupt increase in area will cause a shock pulse,
which can screw up the scavenge effect of your header.
 Increases/decreases in diameter should have as gentle
a swage as possible, with 5 degrees being a general
goal.
