Fuel pump question

Here's another weird Spridget problem.
The fuel pump on my Bugeye (SU Electric) clicks away just fine. But it
clicks away with the "out of gas" sound. So I put gas in the tank even
though it reads 1/4.
But at 41 years old, the gauge *may* be out of whack. Gas in the tank
and still the "no fuel click" of the fuel pump. So I blow long and hard
into the filler and the pump starts to work properly.
This has happened 3 times in as many weeks.
So the pump is loosing it's prime. I never had this problem even after a
car sits for 25 years let alone a week or so. And I have 2 other LBCs
hanging around not used daily this time of year and sitting for 2 or 3
weeks at a time, no lose of prime in their pumps. (all SUs)

Any ideas? Not that blowing into the gas tank is a big deal, but my wife
and daughter just refuse to do it. I don't mind at all, it's just one
more quirk of LBC ownership I could get used to.
