David,

The fuel cut out seems like a good idea- Unfortunately, I doubt very much
that would work- this is an old trick which has been used a lot... I would
imagine any thief worth his salt would know where to find it hidden, usually
under the dash or in the trunk. Only very sophisticated, non advertised
(don't put a sticker on the window saying what system your car
has)anti-theft devices may deter a thief, and these are designed for cars
with modern electonics and computers... Of course, if they are truly
"professionals", the thief will tow the car, as you said...

As for the "Club", I remember seeing a demonstration in England by an
ex-thief on how to defeat it- it did not take long! The Club would only stop
the most casual joy-rider.

In the frame of thief-proofing (getting to be more and more an oxymoron?)
our
Spridgets, I once saw a tech article somewhere that showed how (very simple)
to install an in-cockpit switch to disengage the fuel pump. This would be
effective with any attempt to steal the car by starting it, but not the tow
truck snatch and grab. The switch was a simple toggle switch and was
mounted
in an out of sight place. Just flip the fuel pump off by flipping the
switch
every time you park. Only problem would be not to call the tow truck when
you try to start the car after forgetting to re-engage your fuel pump. 8^)
