This is standard procedure for winning on eBay, unless you REALLY, REALLY 
want something and set a rediculously high bid, damn the torpedoes, full 
speed ahead!  (The chuck christ philosophy!)

Interestingly, I have found that auctions that end in the middle of the week 
are easier to win than those that end on weekends.  Try bidding on an auction 
that ends on a Tuesday or Wednesday.  All the weekend computer users are at 
work.
