Mike,
Do synthetics have the same viscosity characteristics as minerals?
When my 1275 was smoking really bad, one almost universal advice was
to make sure I was using the correct grade of oil.  I am told that a
typical modern mineral oil of 5W/ 40 grade is just too thin.
