I have done it a few times. I use my air compressor which I believe to
have an acurate PSI gauge on it. Set it to 20 psi and blow into the back
of the gauge. I check it again at 40 and 60. If it's off any, I pop the
needle off the face and set it where it wants to be.
Some are off by 5 or 10 psi.
Calibrate the temp gauge by inserting the bulb in boiling water, set the
needle at 212. On the C-N-H gauges, there is a dot where 212 would be,
you can see it if you look hard.
But I was once informed that this is only correct at sea level. since my
house is 7' avbove sea level, I can live with any error. Mountain
dwellers need to know their altitude and calibrate accordingly.
