Having also worked for FEDEX (over 10 years ago) as both a courier and
in the west coast sort facility I can attest to those "methods". Luckily
back then FEDEX was able to survive on quality alone so we didn't get
the stopwatch treatment. Things have changed a lot since then.



I also worked as a ramp rat for a commercial airline and will say that
packages aren't treated too well there either (think of what your bags
look like after a few trips).



I like your recommendation. I always try to "overpack" anything I ship.
It increases the cost of shipping but is worth it if you want the
product to get where its going in one piece.
