I saw a LCB header (Janspeed?) listed on Ebay several months ago that
was described as RHD only!Someone had bought it from a UK vender & found
it would not fit his LHD Spridget.  Due to its design it could not clear
the steering column, which obviously is not an issue on the RHD.  Sounds
like you may have one of these. 

The seller should have told you this before purchase. Try contacting
him/her for satisfaction.

Having said all this -  other Listers have had trouble with LCB headers
and did need to remove steering column, fit header & then re-install
column. You might check this out first.
