When you say back, like near the bumper? If so, maybe someone replaced 
(or removed) the fuel overflow/evap system which started in 68.
There were 2 braided hoses, one from the charcoal can, the other near 
the gas tank neck on the trunk floor.
Other than that, are all 3 bolts in the rear leaf spring mount?
